AUSTI DANCE and PHYSICAL THEATER

Program for Emerging Dance Artists in Regional NSW
With the support of the Tanja Liedtke Foundation, Michelle Maxwell, the Artistic Director of AUSTI Dance & Physical Theatre, will continue ongoing training, development, mentorship, coaching, and performance opportunities for artists aged 17 to 25. This program aims to enhance their artistic and performance skills, ultimately advancing the careers of dancers, choreographers, and teachers in the Illawarra region and beyond.

“This funding will allow me to develop my leadership within the company further, facilitate artistic growth for both myself, and the AUSTI performers, engage more with community learning and dance classes, encourage artistic collaborations, and provide me with the time and space to build new relationships and networks with organizations that can directly benefit AUSTI’s core performers and dancers. I am incredibly grateful and humbled to have received this support from the Tanja Liedke Foundation.” Maxwell stated.

Maxwell is committed to supporting emerging dance artists in regional NSW. This initiative primarily focuses on those transitioning from full-time training or tertiary education into professional careers, addressing financial and geographical barriers.

Last year saw the launch of the Youth Pilot Program for dancers aged 12 to 17. The program was highly successful, leading to expansion plans for this year

This project could be done with the help of a person who doesn’t want to be named.

But we are so thankful and proud of the realisation as we strongly believe of it’s importance.
