34th International Choreografy Competition Hannover

Congratulations to Tu Hoang the winner of the Competition and the Tanja Liedtke Scholarship. He has send us a very nice mail saying:

About “34th Hannover International Choreography Competition“ and being a winner of such a well-known and prestige competition like this one is such a huge honor to me.
It’s a dream comes true for me, especially coming from Vietnam Contemporary dance is not as developed as many other countries and our education was very limited because of that. Fortunately for me that I got a chance to come to Europe and after 13 years of working as professional in Europe I finally made it this far, I still have a lot to learn but I am trying my best for contribute to the world with my vision of an artist
I am very thankful that I am the chosen one of the Tanja Liedtke Foundation. This year, after knowing the back story behind it I am even grateful and honored to receive it. As an growing young artist and emerging choreographer this is a great opportunity for me to grow in many ways possible. I am a big fan of ADT and to have chance to work with them it means a lot to me.
I’m sure I can learn a lot from this trip and I am really looking forward to it!

Garry Steward about his choice:

I am so elated that we could again provide this award to a promising young choreographer from the Hannover Competition for Choreography. Tu Hoang’s work was the stand out and won the First Prize from the jury as well as the Audience Award. Despite Covid 19 the competition went ahead with 250 applicants from across the globe and over 5000 viewers online. I am so proud to represent the Tanja Liedtke Foundation in this way and to carry forward Tanja’s legacy and love of the art form. We are looking forward to hosting Tu Hoang at Australian Dance Theatre for the three weeks residency that the TLF provides for. This is such a valuable opportunity for a young choreographer and wonderful for the company to be able to host this promising new talent.
