Gabrielle Nankivell‘s new work development - Ghosts of Berlin.

Our 2015 Tanja Liedtke Fellow, Gabrielle Nankivell has now completed her Fellowship program which included a creative development for the new work Ghosts of Berlin at adaStudio (Berlin) and participating in Tanzlabor_21’s Summer Lab (Frankfurt).

In developing Ghosts of Berlin, Gabrielle collaborated with Laurie Young, a choreographer/dancer based in Berlin, and Raul Maia, a performer and dance maker based in Vienna. The work was presented to the public on 23 August as a work-in-progress at the Nah Dran event at adaStudios.“

As a research project, Ghosts of Berlin explores the enigmatic memory space of Berlin as an instigator for the body as document”.

Thomas Bradley at ImPulsTanz in Vienna.

Thomas Bradley has just returned from his TLF supported study trip to Europe. In August, Tom spent one week at the International Dance Festival, ImPulsTanz, participating in workshops with several renowned contemporary dance artists, including Tony Rizzi from the Forsythe Company and Venezuelan dancer/choreographer David Zambrano.

Tom also visited Berlin where he was able to see the outcome of Gabrielle’s development at adaStudio, and attend performances at Tanz im August including Marie Chouinard and Tao Dance Theatre.

Another stop was Brussels, where Tom participated in workshops conducted by artists of Ultima Vez. It is this city that Tom intends to base himself from 2016. Meeting so many artists from all over Europe during this trip has provided Tom with quite a few contacts and introductions, and we wish him well in his future adventures.

QL2 in 2015 – inspiring dance workshops.

On 25, 26 and 27 September, eighteen young dance graduates will work with Kristina Chan and Amelia McQueen at the youth dance centre – QL2 in Canberra, Australia. Chan and McQueen will teach the young artists selected repertoire material from Tanja Liedtke’s Twelfth Floor and construct as well as explore some of the source ideas for the works to build choreographic skills development.

This is the second time Kristina and Amelia have delivered this workshop at QL2, where as well as being an opportunity for the dancers to work with two of Australia’s most experienced dancers, they will have the chance to learn Tanja’s choreography from the artists who collaborated in the creation of the work.

TLF would like to thank Ruth Osborne and Gary Barnes from QL2 for making this workshop possible.

Best wishes to all of our supporters,
Tanja Liedtke Foundation
