Tanja Liedtke Foundation - Fellowship

The winner of the 2019 Tanja Liedtke Fellowship is Geoffrey Watson

Melbourne experimental artist Geoffrey Watson has been awarded the highly-prestigious 2019 Tanja Liedtke Fellowship. 28 year-old Watson, a rising star in dance and Choreography, will now travel to Berlin, Germany in July for a four-week residency at ada Studio where he will work alongside some of European’s most-acclaimed artists and attend the Tanz im August, the city’s annual international contemporary dance festival.

Geoffrey said:
“I applied for this fellowship because the idea of actually receiving it felt completely preposterous to me, and preposterous is a good mindframe to work with. I hope that the absolute fracture of this experience from that of my artistic life thusfar will also signify a fracture in my creative thought, and that I will be able to use the financial and creative resources offered to me in ways that benefit more than just myself”.

Congratulations to Antony Hamilton

Tanja Liedtke Fellowship 2009 recipient

Congratulations to Antony for the start in his position as new Artistic Director of Chunky Move.

In his interview with the Age (Sue White) on 02.03.2019 he said:
„I make a career solely from my work as an artist. That‘s highly unusual. Most artists are subsidizing their artistic practice by working in other fields; that is fare more common.“

This is one of the reasons the Tanja Liedtke Foundation has set up the Fellowship so the choreographer can concentrate on the artistic development of a production.

But we offer more:
The Deutschlandstipendium at the HfMDK in Frankfurt once a year
This scholarship at danceWEB in Vienna once a year
The International Choreography Competition in Hannover once a year

Best wishes to all our supporters,

Tanja Liedtke Foundation
