BRILLIANTLY DARK

Open for Viewing
These are unprecedented times, there is brilliance and darkness.

To support the creativity of Australians living in Germany, the Tanja Liedtke Foundation  organised an online, short dance-theatre film festival. Gerlinde Liedtke, Chairperson of the foundation’s Board of Trustees conceived the project:

“We feel it is very important for society to listen to the voices of artists, especially in the kind of conditions surrounding COVID-19. Australian artists in Germany, far away from their homeland, can connect globally through sharing their dance-theatre films.”

A truly wonderful array of films were submitted from across Germany, as artists shared their personal responses. A selection of 15 films is available for your viewing pleasure. The curation introduces a variety of vivid intimate perspectives, and expressions of soulful artistic investment.

All artists received financial support for their submissions, and extra remuneration was given for the films showcased online. Three top prizes were awarded to submitting artists; The Samaya Wives, Chris Scherer and Aaron Carey-Burrows.

Please do share the showcase with others, let’s spread this creativity as far as possible. It was heart-warming to hear from many of the artists sharing their enthusiasm for participating in the project, saying it had given them a welcomed incentive to keep on creating in these particularly uncertain times.
